Indian Tea

India is now one of the leading countries for tea cultivation in the world, with production having increased dramatically since it's introduction in the 1820s. From the early days of the British East India Tea Company demand for tea in Britain escalated in the 1950s, including exclusive varieties such as Darjeeling and Assam. Whilst China's production has now overtaken India's, it remains a key producer of the world's crop, although over 70% of it is actually consumed within India itself.
