Coffees From Around The World - Written by Miles Spencer

How much is a cup of kopi luwak coffee?

It is rare to find a coffee shop/restaurant selling Kopi Luwak coffee by the cup so when you're discussing its price, it is about looking at the cost of purchasing the coffee from a reputable supplier and working it out from there.

However, there is anecdotal evidence that if you can find somewhere in London to sit down to enjoy a cup of Kopi Luwak coffee, it costs from £60 - £70 a cup.

How Much Does Kopi Luwak Cost?

Kopi Luwak is one of the most expensive coffees in the world. Current lists put it as the fourth most expensive, with a cost of around £115 per pound. You can however find much better prices than this and cost also depends on whether you buy raw green beans or already roasted.

You can purchase one pound of ready roasted Kopi Luwak beans for under £90 and with promotions, deals, special offers and subscriptions you can get an even better price. For raw green bags, you can get 2lb bags for under £170.00 (with offers, discounts etc).

How Does That Convert to Cost Per Cup?

Of course, this can only be an estimate because cost per cup depends on the price you pay for your beans, the method of making/brewing, how big your cup is and the amount of coffee you like to use.

According to a large cross section of online resources, you can get from 40-80 cups of 6 fl oz from 1lb of coffee. If you work on the basis of an average of 60 cups and a price of £90 for a 1lb bag of roasted beans, you can assume that one cup of coffee (in its most basic calculation) is £1.50.

Obviously, this is very general. The only real way to know how much your cup of Kopi Luwak coffee costs is to count how many cups you get from a bag.
